Stupid people, they say. Those who act differently do obscure acts. Perhaps they are crazy, or perchance these individuals do things that are of the norm, things drowned by our society; skeletons in everyone’s closets. Some of these things even less veiled than we think. For example it is normal for a person to get surgery or take supplements to lose weight. Those whom society perceive crazy are those whom take up bulimia or anorexia, starving themselves. So the more normal ones are killing their organs and wasting money while the other does the same. Both are crazy, but one is chosen over the other to be normal behavior. One of the cases is simply a different form of the other. At the same time, so few of the crazy cases are seen because they are hidden, so those who are open are seemed one in a million while it’s actually more common and more cases are running around than reported or seen. The same goes for many more circumstances.
Who knows what is correct in this world? No one. No one can truly understand what is going on in another’s mind. So how does any person have the right to pass judgments? Yes, all have the rights to ignore such observations and criticisms on their lives or their perspectives and actions, but many do not have the strength or the understanding. This is not a bad thing. Society’s standards are one of the things that hold together a community, so by nature we all do have a care of how society perceives us. However, we also have how we perceive ourselves and how we perceive our acts, which is what sets us apart from society’s norm.
Henceforth we are all crazy; every last one of us. At least, that is according to someone else’s judgment. For every left we make, someone will take a right. There is no laid out normal. There is what the majority think in our society, and then there is what others think in other places outside our society. All of it differs. No matter what you do, it is going to be opposed by another somewhere, somehow. How you say something, the way you dress, the weight you are, the things you do; all passed verdict on by another.
Finally, one last example: A child hitting its head against the wall in frustration; A girl pulling her hair in scrutiny of a test; a man punching the wall as hard as he can in anger; a man drinking away pain. All these are common occurrences, yet, all these involve taking out ones emotions on oneself in a harmful way to ones body. Now, keeping in mind these are normal, things we remark as common, now observe the idea of a girl cutting herself due to her emotions. Something seen as crazy, repulsive, shocking, but she is simply doing a different form of what all of the above are, taking out ones anger out on oneself. Something seen even in distressed animals such as rats, is seen as so grotesque and unnatural and stupid in our society. So we judge these people. We label them. Stupid people.
